Medical facilities

The University's Health Service offers a wide range of medical specialities and dental services. You can also use private clinics for a fee. Prescription medicine must be bought in a chemists' (Apteka), which is open during normal business hours (some also stay open late and over night, Sundays and on public holidays).
Treatment for accidents and emergencies is free for everyone regardless of his/her status and length of stay in Poland. If you require an ambulance you should always dial for the emergency services on 999 from a landline, or 112 from a mobile, and ask for an ambulance.

Insurance cover

For all registered Polish students, the University arranges a group insurance policy. However, international students are not insured by the University. If you have not already done so before leaving your own country, you are strongly advised to take some form of insurance policy to cover the cost of your personal property should it be lost or stolen. Make every effort to do this as soon as possible after your arrival.
